I have experienced a serious hard drive issue that has rendered my computer unbootable. I have a RAID 0 that is showing an error on one of the drives, hence, no workie.
I am going to have tech look at it on Monday 2/15.
Most of my user data is on an external drive, so, hopefully I will be able to retrieve it.
Therefore, my online activities, including e-mail, will be severely curtailed until...
Please refer all CANP questions/issues to Harley, for the time being. Thanks for your understanding.

Preston,
When you get back up and running get some hardrive Ghosting software and make a ghost copy of your drive onto some DVD's. Then when something like this happens again yuo can boot off the DVD copy and even restore the drive.
One of the drives in the RAID Array is toast The tech will delete the RAID install a new drive as primary 500GB Western Digital), set the old good drive as secondary, reinstall Windows XP Pro-SP3. So,. I'm looking at $200+. Arrrgh!
After that, the fun begins...reinstalling a pile of drivers, software, and profiles.
Fortunately, I have my documents and images backed up on a Western Digital external drive, so they should be ok. At this point, I will probably use the secondary 160GB drive for a PS scratch disk. That way, when it fails, there will be no data loss.

Hey Preston,
That's a real bummer and now a time sync to go along with the money you have to fork out.
I would second Youssef's suggestion. Last year I bough "Acronis True Image Home" which is basically similar as Symantec's(Old Norton) Ghost. Get yourself a secondary internal drive and create a "ghost" image of your OS and then continue backing up image and data files to an external drive. I keep TWO copies of ALL my image files - that means TWO copies of my raw scans, my PSD working files, print files and jpgs. I picked up a 1TB USB external drive from Costco for $100. Only turn it on when I need to update my backups.
Good to see you back in operation, Preston. Needless to say these issues can be costly, but the aggravation of lost time, data, etc. out weighs the $$ figure usually. I've gone to three external drives and use the internal drive for basic internet service and post processing only. All files are moved off the most likely drive to fail, at least for me, which is always the main drive.
Well, I've gotten most stuff reinstalled and configured. What a whoop of work, sheesh!
What have I learned: Backup, backup, backup! If you don't have a backup strategy, now's the time! Fortunately, all my images and other documents are OK. Whew!
Do you save a hard copy of product activation and serial numbers for downloaded software and/or your software CD's/DVD's?
I am glad I did!
I had to redownload some applications such as Neat Image, Expression Web, and Acronis True Image. Without the activation codes and SN's, I'd have been hosed. In one case, I had the initial e-mail from the vendor backed up, so I was able to install use my monitor calibration tool.
PS: I just ordered a 500GB Western Digital Internal drive. as soon as it's installed I will create an image of my C:\ drive on it. Other documents will be backed up on my other machine and my external drive. I hope I never have to through this again!
Although I had to reinstall a bunch of stuff, it could've been much worse--I could have lost many master and print files! I have learned a big-time lesson!
