D3S + 600mm AFS II f4D. + 1.4 Conv.
1/2500 @ f8.
ISO: 640.
Ex Comp -0.3EV.
Picture Control: Neutral.
Contrast -1.
Raw 14bit.
Slipped up on this originally as only had -0.3EV dialed in.
It hopped out into some bright sunshine and the result was that the body burned out to some degree.
Thankfully managed to recover most of the detail.
Just wished it was heading more towards me but beggars can't be chooses so to speak.
Distarcting bits cloned out.
Full of action and a brilliant site to witness. They always make my day when I see one of these.

blimey Major you must have good reactions. I can imagine the speed it was moving at.
This is great, really original, particularly with its white coat. I love the mid-air pose. Very well done.

Matt I managed one frame at take off, this one and one landing on the deck. By then it had heard the shutter going off spun around and headed back the way it came. I wasnt quick enough but managed the back end going into the undergrowth, and yes they dont half move but so comical to watch.

Some people are never satisfied! You take probably the best shot posted on here so far this year (which has been a great one so far in my opinion), and you still want something better!!!
This is superb work, Major, and I am glad you managed to recover most of the detail in the whites.

Brilliant Major. My favourite animals. There was a highly commended entry in the 'Animal Behaviour - mammals' section of WPOTY comp back in 1997 which I always thought should have been placed higher. It was a similar image to yours but I'd say yours is even better.
