Winter Rose
This may have been appropriate for a Valentines Day post, but hey I didn't think of it then, my brain was swirling in Dark Chocolate!
I have worked up two other of these winter rose shots the last couple of weeks. I made a visit to a local rose garden and I must say, I think I like the garden every bit as well if not better than in the heat of summer. But I'm a little wacky that way. It really made me slow down and look at each one up close and personal. Even the same specie of plant have blooms that are very different from each other. This one is very different than the other two. I have put the others in the new editions gallery on the website.
I think the cold of winter and fading beauty brings out a uniqueness in each one. Or maybe I just had to much dark chocolate...

I like this Brad. You've taken a common subject and presented it in a non-traditional way. The dof, sharpness and tonal treatment in this web version are really nice. This would have been even better without the oof bloom behind your main subject. Good work.

Again, great eye. I like to magenta and white scenario, also.
Great detail.
I wonder if softening the lower leaves on the lower right might remove a slight distraction of the eye towards that area??
Good stuff.
