I was trying to figure out a problem that a friend was having with saving their Photomatix HDR image as a JPEG and I grabbed a random pair of images, one of Long's Peak at sunset and another of the sky only and ran them together. I was amazed to see the result was an "other-wordly" image!
I don't think I've ever tried blending totally different images before using Photomatix but it does seem to give some interesting results! Thought you might be interested in my little "accident".

This really does have a surreal fell to it Bill. I am glad you shared this....I have been thinking about getting a copy of Photomatrix. I keep hearing good and bad things about the software. How do you like it?

That is wild, but really aint all that different than double exposures done in the film days.
David Muench had a book with a double image on the cover and I recall one of Fatali's famous images being an accidental double exposure.
But that has made me think of experimenting more with Photomatix.

That's a great "mistake", Bill. It certainly works well of this image.

Oh wow, that is so totally awesome!

Kurt, I like Photomatix and it is useful but often enough I prefer to blend the images in Photoshop myself. In this case I remade the image (not this version) a little more carefully and blended it and didn't need to use Photomatix, so it's your choice I suppose.

Amazing effect and well worth future experiments.

Kurt - I tend to do a lot of HDR work and I love photomatix. Its a little hard to get used to but it is worth it. I haven't used photoshop to do any HDR work, but thats because I'm still rocking PS7
To OP really cool picture. I might have to play around with this a little while Im laid up in bed. .

Looks warm and inviting and with all this snow and cold air, I would like to be there, other worldly or not!
