Anas platyrhynchos
Hi All,
One from the weekend. What I set out to photograph didn't really happen, so I decided to make the most of some friendly waterfowl.
Most of the ducks were snoozing in the sun, but suddenly this fella stuck his head up and shouted.
Turns out 500mm is a bit close, but I couldn't get any further back, due to the possibility of being run over...
D200, 500mm lens
1/200sec @ f8 ISO 200
C and C welcome
Thanks for looking!

Great to see (as David said), a shot with an open bill, it adds to a comical smile Dawn. Good detail, might be tempted to lose a tad off the top?

You know what the duck is saying Dawn. "Back a bit, back a bit, back a bit.
Bit like the laughing Cavalier.
Nice one.

All the better for being a 'bit too close' I'd say. I like that very much. A portrait with plenty of character.

Hi Dawn,
Great portrait; the open beak is what makes it for me.

BIF, excellent. An uncommonly good portrait of a common species. Superb in fact.
