I had a great half hour photographing a small group of these in dense rushes. I liked this one where only the head had no screening from the stems although more eye contact might have been nice.

7d, 500mm + 1.4x
f5.6, ISO 400, 1/200th

I love the background... I think you've drawn a good balance between super-smooth mush and recording detail in such a way as to fully complement the subject :smile:

I really like this image, the way the head is perfect focus and everything else is a soft blur works really well.
