Little Egret
On a rainy day, two weeks ago, I spotted a Little Egret in a ditch. After foraging, it rested on a bank and fluffed out its feathers.
Nikon D80 @ 500 mm, iso 320, f 8, 1/160 sec on a beanbag from a car window.

I love the ruffled feathers of the Little Egret and I like the colour and texture of the bank. The image conveys a sense of what the bird has to contend with when hunting for food, IMO.

Nice capture and for me timely as I 've now spotted one on 2 consecutive mornings whilst out on my constitutional. I can't get near it - not yet tried with a camera - but when disturbed it flies a good 200 yards! :argue:

Great detailing and nice eye contact, especially given the dullness of the light

Given the shooting conditions you've handled this well, exposure an white's look nice, composition is good too.
