Reverse to Oct
I have already posted a morning image I did back in October on a trip to Monument Valley with John Mumaw......well, John was helping me with my Pano technique and I just finished one done in the late evening (I know, Im kinda slow). This was a two image pano done in PS photomerge and tweaked with shadow and midtone adjustment taught to me by Guy Schimikle. I guess you see why I love this forum.....lots of great talent willing to share.
I am bothered by the hot lower right hand corner which draws your eye out of the frame, but, vignetting the area just adds color contamination. CC always welcome....I love to learn.Hope the posted image is large enough to see.

I like it, Joe. I agree that the right corner does draw my eye, but to me it fits into the "flow" of the image. I find myself looking at all the highlights as I pan through the image, and naturally end up on the right anyway.

The colors are nice and the highlight does not bother me either. An unusual transition to the clouds in the middle of the frame. Would be nice to see this a little larger and see if this is a stitching issue, or my eyes.

Steven,
Thanks for pointing out the issue with the clouds....I have spent so much time dealing with land area the stich problem completely got past me. Good eye.

Looks good to me. The hot area on the right doesn't bother me either but I would love to see it a little larger, looks like a lot of great detail to gaze upon.

Wow, this is some nice lighting you have here. I agree with Steven about the cloud stitch. I don't know what software you use for post processing, but you should be able to bring the lrc down without beating up the color too badly. Also, depending on how many pixels you have to work with, you could do a bit of cropping.

While I prefer your morning shot to this one, this is just about as beautiful.
Were I you, I would consider cropping about 3/4 inch from the right.
Just about where the gap is between the two formations in the foreground.
That will solve your light heavy right side without sacrificing too much and keeping that cool free standing formation at the same time.

It was worth the time, effort and $$ to get to this place, wasn't it?

I think you're probably right,John, about the crop...I think the massive formation plus it's light color give too much visual weight to the corner and that is what is bothering me.
Yes, the Hunt's Mesa trip was certainly worth it....the 4wd up, the overwhelming views, and great fellowship make this an invaluable experience I would recommed to everyone.

Wow....you are slow!!! Thanks for bringing back memories of that spectacular view from up there. It's definitely worth the hassle and $$$ required to get there. Some gorgeous light and I like John's crop suggestion as well.
