I think the conversion is great, David. I sure enjoyed this place while it was still accessible. I'd like to find more of these rare locations myself. The clouds really make it here...

This is interesting and quite dramatic in B&W, so much that draws you in and that sky is fantastic.
Here is an old favorite of mine that I had photographed for several years. It's on the northern outskirts of Madras OR, the left property edge is on hwy 26, on your left (if your heading south on 26), before you get to the airport. I have had many different skies and if your ever going that way you might want to look for it. The old abandoned house is easily seen from the highway, this shot looks north toward Mt Hood.

David,
I love this and a nice job with the conversion! It looks familiar to me. I think Rick (my brother) and I shot this area a while back. Is it around Shaniko?
Very nice David. A splendid b&w and great comp with an awesome sky. I have nothing to nit pick about it.

Erik, yes, this is on the way to Shaniko, just past the town of Kent, where the cool old gas station is.
Thanks all for the comments, and Craig, I will definitely check out the house on 26. Thanks.

The BW is gorgeous. I like how the treatment affected the wood grain on the house.

I like it, David but I feel it needs a bit more "focus". A lot of it's parts are nice but no part really focuses my attention.

It evokes Pink Floyd.....is anybody out there. I use to fish in chignik alaska, pink floyd on cassette, ripped, freaking out listening to that song staring out the boat window at miles and miles of nothing in the early spring, and couldnt wait for late summer to fly home. Now i sit in my house looking out the window at power lines and 'wishing i was back there.'

Cliff, I can relate to your Pink Floyd comments--although I am not sure I should admit that

I'm definitely into a B&W phase these days...here's one I like for the sky. I used NIK's Silver Efx plugin to convert to B&W.
I'd like to find more opportunities for abandoned homes/farms/buildings, so if you know of any, please let me know.
Here's a Larger Version.
Comments and critiques appreciated.
