While rummaging through some old 6x7cm photos in an unsuccessful attempt to find another shot, I came across this one that I took probably 15 years ago. The view is overlooking Highland Mary Lakes in the Weminuche Wilderness. I left Stony Pass at around 3am and hiked the Continental Divide Trail for about four miles, arriving at this spot just as a weak, but still beautiful alpenglow painted my intended targets, Vestal and Arrow Peaks in the Grenadier Range (a little more than a 90-degree turn to the left of this view). Once I got my fill of that subject, I turned my attention in this direction and shot a few of the changing patterns of sunlight on the mountainsides and lake shore. I might just have to go back here again this summer.

This is very nice....no, it's nicer than nice! I need to put this on my places to go list.
Beautiful - I just love this part of CO. Can understand why you'd want to go back!

I was hoping it would be some freaky shot of a weird band, but this pretty mountain scene is nice too

Lovely scene, and that splash of sunlight really makes this pop.
I wanna live there, too!

The light has a nice softness to it. Well done.

Awesome shot, Todd. Really shows the essence of that area. The touch of light is great too! This really makes me excited for backpacking this summer!

You know, I still haven't made my way up to that area since moving to CO. This shot is a nice kick-in-the-pants to do so this summer. Very nice.

I think the mountains were allot taller then.

That's a nice shot Todd. Makes me dig out the map and begin planning a week long backpack trip along the Divide this summer.
As you know from late June through the 2nd week of September that's a scary place to be from 11:00am to 6:00 pm. Our friend from Summitpost Aaron Johnson refers of that area as the "Storm Factory."

Boy, does this make me want to see some summer sooner than later. Beautiful landscape. Beautiful light. I will never forget my own time there. Indeed, a good place for studying lightning up close. And yet, I want to go back too.

Even though I'm not done with winter yet, I will admit this makes me long for summer hiking. Really pretty, Todd.

Mmmmmm, very nice image of one of my favorite places.

Yeah, I would say 15 years is long enough to be away from this place. Beautiful shot, TC. Really nice light and color, and the comp is excellent.

really gives the sense of remote vastness - nice image, Todd

You must've been in junior high when you took this! Veddy niiice! Color balance looks a bit off though

Gorgeous shot Todd, I've wanted to do some backpacking in that area for a number of years now, you might have just sealed the deal for me going there this summer.
