OK folks, Nancy & I have set aside March 6th for the Seattle PNWNP meet up! Would folks be interested in a photo hike prior to the event? I'm thinking we'd hike a section of the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River. Nancy and I hiked this same section a few days ago and the moss covered trees are amazing!!
Caveat - the road into the trailhead sux right now (a five mile pot holed and muddy road)!! I STRONGLY recommend leaving that sports car at home and bring the more rugged vehicle - anything less than a Subaru would be a BAD idea. Our Dodge Dakota 4x4 took a beating and oh lord was it muddy after that! And bring a good pair of REAL hiking boots too! The trail is sloppy too! But the foto ops are endless on this trail!
After the hike we can retreat to the humble Lamb Abode in Snoqualmie WA for pizza/soda/etc and some quality time with Photoshop & Lightroom on the big screen. Donations to pay for the food/beverages are greatly appreciated!! I will speak only for myself that I am vastly better in Lightroom these days than Photoshop. I only use Photoshop for those problem images and thankfully I don't have those all that often. So if we can get someone with more current Photoshop skills that would be maaaaaaaaaaaavelous!! I'll gladly yack yer ears off about Lightroom!
Oh and please do bring some prints to share with the group! Lord knows Nancy & I have plenty laying around!
Please let me know if this sounds interesting - or not. I want feedback and a group of happy nature fotogs!!
Hi Rick- count me in. I would love to take a hike, muddy or not, and then meet up at the Lamb Abode. I'm coming from Northeast Seattle if anyone wants to carpool.

Great Rick! Thanks for hosting!
I would be up for the hike. I will be coming from the south east side - Maple Valley - if anyone needs a ride.

I'm in. Not sure whether I'll make it for the hike or not, may go find my own spot earlier or something.

I'd be interested in both hike and Lamb Abode get-together. Would have Service Dog with me– a problem? And would like more info on the hike, i.e. where & when to meet.
Thanks for hosting this, Rick. Very generous of you to volunteer!
Hi folks, Let's meet at the Shell station off of I-90 exit 34 (468th Ave SE) at 10am. Take exit 34 off of I-90 east bound. At the stop sign turn left go under the freeway and the Shell station will be on the right about 1/2 block. From there we will drive together to the trailhead.
Please remember this road to the trailhead is a messy potholed dirt road. NOT appropriate for the casual/nice car!!!! At the very least you will want to drive a car/truck that can take a bit of abuse. We will be driving our 2005 Blue Dodge Dakota 4x4.
Nancy & I are thinking what might be best is to go to North Bend Bar and Grill after the hike for great food and good conversation. From there we can go to the humble Lamb Abode for some quality time with Lightroom and Photoshop.
The weather looks clear and sunny for Saturday. Kind of a bummer actually. Overcast makes for nice smooth light. This hike is full of moss covered wonderfulness!! We'll have fun anyhoo!
My cell number is 425.444.6243. See yall on Saturday!!
The service dog should be fine on the trail. I'm not quite sure about how the service dog will go over at North Bend Bar and Grill. Said dog would have to stay in your car at our home. We have a cat that is not friendly to dogs at all.
The trailhead is 5 miles NorthEast of the Shell Station off of I-90 exit 34 on a rough potholed dirt road. If any of you are Grey's Anatomy fans this trailhead and the bridge over the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie were used in a past episode of Grey's Anatomy. It was the "guys go camping/fishing" episode a few years back.

I'd like to make it, but will have to forego the hike (both because of family responsibilities and because, frankly, my vehicle wouldn't be up to it). About what time, as a rough guess, would you expect to be gathering at the NB B&G?

I would love to, but I'm headed up to Mount Baker for a photo trip -- we're heading up to Artist Point.
I am glad this is happening...hopefully more to come. Really would like to meet folks. Unfortunately, I will be shoveling compost...4 yards in the driveway needs to be spread atop the garden. Annual ritual. I can smell it now. Ken S
It's a bright sunny morning folks!! Not the best for photography but we'll have fun anyway! James I'm not sure exactly when we will roll into Norht Bend Bar and grill. You can call me on my cell before 10am and provide me with your cell number at that time. Once we are heading to NBBG I can call you.
Wowsers what an amazing day! We had one flat tire, one face plant, one butt plant, a scuffed up Canon 5D Mark II, a lost then found bubble level, a randomly found 1GB SD card, sore/achy folks post hike and a generally excellent grub down at North Bend Bar and Grill!! Oh and a bunch of good times and great images had!
Rick and Nancy- it was great meeting you. I came home tired but energized- ready to get out there shooting more next week. I thought the discussion post-hike was terrific. Thanks again for hosting us. Talk to you soon.
What fun. Thanks Rick and Nancy for hosting. And we are sworn forever more not to say who did which "planting!" Sore and achy, yes, but soothed by lots of visual goodness and great company. Looking forward to more outings-- sans flats and plantings and scrapes.

Also directions would be appreciated for those of us who don't remember from last time.
