Mountain hare portrait
from my recent trip to Scotland, did quite well with these while i was up there so may have trouble keeping my postings to a minimum

stalked this resting hare very close but the composition wasn't working, eventually however it got up and gave this brief over the shoulder look before trotting off

40D + 300mm F4L + 1.4 extender
slight crop from top and right for comp

Beautiful image. An unorthodox composition but you did well to get a nice tight portrait with the added bonus of 'ears up'. Top drawer

Nice portrait, Jack. Particularly like the way you caught the detail in the hare's face and ears. :toast:

If they're all as good as this, don't resist the temptation to post again, Jack. How did you get so close - wearing Norwegian army camouflage?

A beautiful portrait Jack. The detail has held really well and like the OOF foreground.

WOW!!!!! Trotting off is the only action I saw when we went after these chaps
I really did enjoy them smaller in the frame but this is also very very nice.

Well done.

Thanks for the comments all

Tom - no camouflage, just normal dark clothing and a very slow approach, they know you are there but some don't mind while others do
