Great Tit (Parus Major)
Hi everyone, I spent a wonderfull few hrs on Saturday morning photographing small garden birds in some of the best light I've encountered. I was able to use a 'small' aperture and still retain a good shutter speed, as well as keep the BG difused and OOF. All comments are most welcome.
Regards,
Paul. :wavey:

f9, 1/500sec, ISO 200, @370mm.

Canon EOS 7D, Sigma 150-500mm lens.

Hi Paul

You're becoming a bit of a master at these and this is your best yet, stunning! Just out of curiosity why F9, is it because the lens is sharpest at F9 or some other reason? It's just that in a situation such as this I'd use F5.6 max so I was just wondering what you're motivation was

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andrew, I used f9, because the Tit's head isn't quite on the same focal plane, as the tail, and I thought f9 would give me a greater DOF, so enabling me to get the whole bird tack sharp. I think my lens is sharpest between f8 and f11.

Paul. :wavey:
