It's been six months since I've moved from Colorado Springs to Austin, TX, but I'm on the RMNP forum daily. Although I don't/can't contribute or comment as much as I'd like to, I still consider this forum my "home". Anyways, we had some snow here in the Austin area yesterday and I thought I'd share a shot with you I got yesterday on my way home from work. Thanks for looking. A great Texas icon! Enjoy the snow while you can.
I'll be looking forward to your Hill Country wildflowers.

I wondered if you were getting any of those Texas snows. I wonder no more.
You really did capture a rare moment very well...way to go!
Surely a local newspaper/magazine would publish this?

Stick around for a while Justin. It snows in Austin about every ten years. You may be able to catch another snow. Now the ice storms are a bit more frequent. (I lived in Austin all but four years from 1968 to 1998)
I've submitted the picture to the big paper here in town and I'm trying to figure out a way to get it submitted to Texas Monthly Magazine...we'll see what happens. Thanks for looking!
Fred,
Snow seems to be more frequent now down here...my parents, who are also in Austin, had a decent snow 3 years ago. Of course, our measly inch can't compare to the foot of snow Dallas had last weekend. Unreal.

Nice one, he doesn't look cold at all. Gotta eat.

Well, when you go by averages, you get all messed up. Those pictures did bring back memories. When there is an ice storm, you do not want to be on the roads. But if you live where you can get some tree shots, like in West Lake or Dripping, you can get some fantastic pictures. It is even better if the sun comes out and you can get some stars in the ice. You do have to be quick as it generally melts pretty fast.
I understand from my parents up in Round Rock that the snow lasted all yesterday and this morning. I can see that you enjoyed it while you could.
