Pair of LTTs
Another shot from Saturday. Aperture wasn't sufficient to get both birds in focus but if I had changed the aperture I would have had no birds in focus as they would have flown - they land and take off so quickly.

D300
300mm f2.8
1/1600s
f6.3
-0.3EV
ISO 200

hi maggie

as you say ltt are in and out in seconds, have been trying to shot them for some time now, anyway - you have covered nits and i think the pic works (these are lovely birds)

Well done Maggie for getting a pair .However the birds positions aren't the best ,the lead bird has no catchlight ,the lighting looks a tadge harsh ( handled well) and the defined split to the BG all knock the edge off it.A fine effort all the same .

I know how fast this guys are , we call them the SAS, they storm in , in a group and are gone in seconds. !
as mark said, you have covered the nits,, nice perch too..

Good stuff Maggie :wavey:

ISO 400 would have bought you another stop on the aperture - standard iso on the D300, and you could have shed a bit of shutter speed to gain even more DoF.

But my one bit of advice would be firstly get more of an eye for your backgrounds - you can always put a bit of scrim net up in your garden to give you a more even BG.

But you are doing some good stuff lately Maggie... :toast:

A very nice pair indeed, Maggie. I was watching one this morning whilst washing up. Landed on the mistletoe on the apple tree outside my kitchen window. Of course no camera ready, such is life.

these are hard subjects to get especially two but it doesn t really work for me as they are facing the wrong way and the one not in focus but I know they are quick little devils to get

I'm very domesticated but only to a point, so my granddaughter keeps reminding me. She always finds the dust I have missed. Above is a virtual sprig of mistletoe just for you.
