Saturday after shooting with Tony in the morning I tried to drive into Death Valley through the Eureka Valley, it was snowing too much to chance it so I ended up back at the Albama's. On Horseshoe Meadow road I found the horse. I had no idea if it was a wild horse or owned by someone, there is a dilapidated barbed wire fence I walked up to. It didn't seem concerned about me not as much as the burro that was in the same huge field, but then he was much closer to the fence. Nikon D-300 300mm -1stop Iso -1 stop exposure.

The sky adds nothing to this IMO, I would try cropping a pano out of this.

I like the many layers of colors and textures captured here. I especially like cloud shadows cast across the mountains in the bg. I'd probably favor a slight reduction in exposure and increase in contrast to the bg and sky. I think that would balance out nicely with the fg levels. Other than that, I like the scene you captured here very much. Well seen!

I reworked another (slightly earlier by several minutes) image of this horse in the field, cropped it and tried to even out the contrast for both the foreground and background. I know it's been up awhile, but it took awhile to get some feedback and I believe it was because the image I posted first while nice wasn't a good as I could have made it. Thanks for the comments. Some photo's are easy some are difficult others damn near impossible. I'm more satisfied with this one.

Paul, the crop does place things a little more into perspective of being there as viewer.

I like the second one better. Do you have any where the horse has his head up?

I definitely like the second one better. Nice improvements. Might be my twisted mind, but I would not mind seeing a little CCW rotation on the second version. The line at the bottom of the mountains looks a bit tilted to my eye.

Rodney if you look again, and I'll e-mail you I do have one with the horse's head up.
