I found these in Conway on Monday and wasn't able to get back to them until today. I know it doesn't feel like it but Spring will be here before we know it and I can't wait.

hrmmm. 5 hours north here no sight of daffodils yet, but we're all ready

I don't even know if my crocus are up yet - right now they're buried under 5 in. of snow! The daffs are laughing cuz they aren't taking a chance sticking their heads out yet This gives me hope spring will eventually work northward. Nice comp of a pretty daff.

Nice bloom. A bit more DOF would have been even nicer.
I do have some shots with more DOF, but I actually chose this one because of it's shallow DOF. There was a slight breeze and the flowers weren't really holding still. These were smaller daffodils and in order to get the entire flower in focus I had to stop down to about f/27, which brought in a messy background. I like the overall softness and colors of the image and viewed at a larger size it really looks much better.

Nicely done Matt.

Beautiful shot Matt. I agree the dof is perfect, IMHO. These do bloom early. One of the first to bloom I think. Actually if it isn't green yet, I want some more snow to shoot myself. Probobly wishful thinking. 2 years ago I think we got 12" in March.
Thanks Ed. I didn't tell but this is a JPEG almost straight from the camera. I did do a very slight levels adjustment that brightened it just slightly.

We got a couple of inches of snow accumulation a couple of weeks ago (a rarity here in East Texas) and the daffodils in my flower beds were up, but not blooming. Of course now that the snow's gone, they are going full bore. That's the way it goes.
As to the photo, I really like it. My only macro attempt before last year was of a daffodil at GSMNP. I had a shot with a very similar DOF as this, and like you Matthew, it was the one I considered a keeper. Not sure my compostion was as good though. Another fine shot from you, Matthew.
yea you just can't count on that darn weather to cooperate. When I shot some daffodils in the snow a couple years ago, it wasn't really all that spectacular. They tend to fall over in the snow and look a little sad.
Lovely daffodil, it gives me hope, here in south central PA, that yes Spring is on the way. Now that the weather is warming and the snow melting I check each day for signs of crocus and daffodils. Thanks for the nice photo.
