What is the reliability of the multimedia photo viewers as temporary storage for digital files? Was thinking about purchasing one of these little devices instead of hauling around an external hard drive/laptop with me everywhere.

Hi Zack, I used a Smartdisk Flashtrax http://www.dpreview.com/news/0303/03030217smartdiskflashtrax.asp for several years doing weddings and nature photography. The size (or lack thereof), and ease of use was the drawing point. Several issues came up that pushed me back to a laptop. #1) The screen is very small, and the ability to transition from one image to the next was slow. #2) The flashtrax was very vunerable to static electricity, actually zapped the flashtrax and lost some images. #3) For temporary storage I really don't trust it. I found myself, downloading the images from the flash card, and then keeping an additional copy on the flashcard to download at home too. (I'm a little paranoid). I went back to the laptop for all of the reasons above, and also found I'm more efficient in processing my images if I can edit at night sitting in the hotel room. I guess if you have travel weight restraints they work fine for temporary storage, but you might be want to use a flash drive. Just my two cents.
