I have a sekonic that does spot, incident and strobe. I've had it about 8 years and it's worked flawlessly. I'm currently on the road so I can't tell you the model #

These days we're all Sekonic, with an L-358 for dedicated studio use, my old L-508 and my wife's successor (L-558?)) for location and studio shoots, as well as in nature photography. The difference hinges on the spot metering capabilities in the last two. You'll find that mandatory if you shoot 4x5, but might get by without it in other formats. I don't see either of the last two models listed, but the L-758DR appears to be a successor.

We've had superb performance and service from Sekonic, as the successors to our previous stable of Minoltas. Controls are almost identical, so the the learning curve is virtually flat. I've used and battered my 508 so thoroughly that virtually all the white lettering is worn off, and it hasn't missed a lick. I'm considering the 500C color meter as a replacement for our worn old Minolta, but that's down the road still, I hope!

The 508 was discontinued at least 3 years ago - I bought mine used then after it had been discontinued for a while.

Pretty much any of the Sekonics are a good choice. It is really a question of what you need the meter to do. There are also a fair number pf them on the used markets so they are relatively easy to find.

I have used a Sekonic L558R for about 4 years and consider it a superb meter. Bought it as my Pentax Digital spotmeter died (probably got a little too wet a little too often). As Hank pointed out it's successor is the Sekonic L758DR which sells for 500.00 through B and H. If it's anything like the 558, don't think you could go wrong with it.
