I have an extensive must see must capture a shot list. This one has been giving me the runaround for a few years.
Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus)
High on the list, is this species, with a high difficulty value within my capabilities. Having only ever seen them starring in a cartoon years ago. The speed they achieve is something else.
I tried to emulate John R's format with this one, fell somewhat short I'm afraid but it was great fun trying. (Through a patio window)
Canon 1D3 35mm-350mm ISO 400 1/125sec f/5.6 Tripod. RAW to lightroom PS4 to resize for posting.
I feel the subject loses some of its impact in the downsized compression. I'm not sure I'm handling this right through resize for web.
Critique, Advice and Comments most welcome.
Thanks for looking.

A slight lift in contrast may help, Barry. Great shot of a fascinating bird.
Hi Barry - looks a tad soft (maybe due to the window) and lacking in 'punch' to me. Perhaps some selective shadow and highlight alterations to lift the it against the background might help ? Cheers, Graham.
Agree with the above comments re highlights and USM but what a capture to get. Did you have to run with the camera whilst taking the shot? I would just love to see one of these in the flesh. Like you I have only ever seen them in cartoons. What brilliant birds they are.
