Freezing cold we were and the wind howling, but that didn't stop us for the nearly 90 minutes this pack of Coyotes allowed us to shoot, observe, and just laugh. There were 9 in total all together, seemed quite the happy & healthy bunch. It was really something though to really be able to observe their behavior for such an allotted time. I think the expression & eyes of the one on the ground say it all lol Right out of Wylie E Coyote!
That is really, really cool! You're right, John, the expression on the face of the one getting rolled is priceless. 90 minutes? Hope you'll post more (which you might be doing as I type this...).

Thanks Todd, just noticed I hit the wrong action in PS for my copyright which says 2009 in the photo LOL DOH! Time to delete it! I will share some more with ya all in a few days, stay tuned!
Great shot John. 90 minutes??? That is amazing! I can't get a coyote to stay for 9 seconds. If you don't miond me asking, what part of RMNP was this? I was there on Saturday (2/27) on caught one running across the road, but that was it. Nice behavior shot!
John great shot. To get a full 90 minutes was awesome. I have only had that situation once in Yellowstone Park. I think I could have loaded him up and taken him home. He was overly friendly to the point of wierd :)
Hope to see more soon!

Great shot! I wish I could find a group. I usually see just one or, if there are more, they are well separated. I did see one in Moraine Park one morning that was hunting without success. He went around for well over an hour and didn't seem to concerned about the people. He even got too close to me to photograph at one point. When that happens, it really makes my day!
Nice work, John. When I lived in the mtns I never ceased to be entertained by all the coyotes that showed up in my yard. Great catch.

Thanks all for the Replies!
"If you don't miond me asking, what part of RMNP was this?"
It was in Moraine Valley, they always seem to be hunting down there on both sides of the road, all the back into the campground farther down. 8:30am seems to be the best time to start scouting for them.
"Next time you are up here, stop by and introduce yourself!"
I certainly will Erik! I have been meaning to swing by and say howdy for awhile now anyhow, so I will take you up on that!
I will share some more with ya all too. I have one shot that is kind of comical, not the best maybe from a photographic perspective, but something you don't see everyday that is for sure.

I never see coyotes up close like this, so I really appreciate getting the chance to view them with images like this one.
