Smooth Newt (C)
Didn't take long for these to get back. Couple of days of sun and bingo ! This male hasn't got his full colour yet.

Hi john nice picture. its so clear and sharp.. my only nit is there is a line to the bottom right of the newt. its runs from in front of his head to the bottom of the pic. is it somekind of cloning or cropping.

Can't wait to see a tadpole shot, John.  Brings back memories of over 50 years ago spending hours searching the many ponds in the wilds of Aughton, Lancashire, looking for Common, Palmate and Great Crested newts and finding all three.

Hi John,

A really spendid image and you have captured his colour well. I can see what Mark is saying re: the line though...perhaps a stray hair or something? Never the less a very fine shot.

Looking forward to seeing you too!

Sorry about that. I think I reposted thewrong one ! It's taken all this time to getbrid of that blasted line. It's on the original but very hard to see. It shows more on reduction..I ve taken a few JPG artis and glass specks out too whilst I was at it
Cheers

Thanks again
Maggie
Its always a problem with backgrounds on freshwaterstuff as to get a "natural" backgound is not that easy. If you think about it -this backdrop is nice but you would never see a newt in real life against one like that. But it looks nice !
And all newts are not p&**"d all the time. ! I am though..

Ever since I was asked to look after the schools 'Great Crested Newts' as a young boy I have been fascinated with Newts, their markings are amazing, and how aggressive they can be  Love the composition and the see through tail here, beautiful creatures  :wavey:

He's a fine specimen John and I too will be working on these this year.. I have a few ideas up my sleeve and since the GCN are around to, I will be trying to get a few of those as well. That reminds me I don't have any good pics of Palmate.. Must do those as well..

Yes I,ve got all my tanks set up too -and a licence too for the cgs !
Palmate are the Commonest here. The gardens full of them. I may try using blurred photo backdrops.
Cheers
