The photo team of Kevin McNeal, Chip Phillips, Zack Schnepf, Adrian Klein, Sean Bagshaw, and David Cobb are brought together to create Photo Cascadia.

The Photo Cascadia Team explores areas of natural beauty and advances the photographic excellence of outdoor photography, while promoting and sharing images, knowledge, and expertise with photo enthusiasts.

I am curious if this is the "new" trend in nature photography? And I am also curious if those involved in any of these photo teams have found it helps their career?

There are three "teams" of different NPN members, representing NPN's best photographers.

When a community begins to break into rival bands (or teams) the community begins to fail.

Congrats! I hope the team finds much success with the site and partnership.

Interesting point Carl. I can't speak for other teams, but we don't see ourselves in competition or at odds with any other individual or group. We consider many of the other NPN members you refer to as valued mentors, friends and colleagues. If anything, we would hope that any increased photography interest, excitment, appreciation and education we might be able to generate would only help to strengthen the outdoor photography community.

Adrian Klein hatched and guided the idea based on two principles. One was that it seemed logical that as a group we might raise the level of our own work while also being able to share more with others...kind of a "the sum is greater than the parts" effect. Second was that while other teams cover various geographical regions or photography genres, we weren't aware of a group that was focusing on the Pacific Northwest the way we felt we could.

Photo Cascadia is a work in progress...an experiment, so who knows where it will lead. If it is a wise career move remains to be seen. Even if there was zero career benefit I'd still be on board for the chance to collaborate with a great group of people who have similar interests and the chance to share with others my passion for photography.

Sean,
It was just an observation based on being involved in the creation of other photography "teams". The history of photography and all other forms of... well everything, is loaded with them, informal and not so informal.

I agree there is something to be said when you surround yourself with quality individuals that share the same passion. Great things can come from a focused group of individuals.

I wish you and all the other photographers in all the teams the best of luck, I will simply will stay neutral.
