In late February I spent my 30th birthday visiting some friends in Albuquerque. We did a couple of hikes nearby in the national monuments that I didn't quite have enough time to visit when I was there for the NANPA show last year. It was nice to see these cool places that I missed last time! Here are a few of my favorites from the trip.
The first image is an aerial abstract I took probably somewhere above the Cochiti or Jemez Pueblo on the approach to Albuquerque. It was converted to grayscale then given a bluish tone.
I haven't seen that grazing sheep (?) petroglyph at Rinconda. That's such a fun place to explore! I try to visit it every time I'm visiting freinds in Albq.
Very effective foreground compsition on the last one.
The last one is great... I like the even lighting, the foreground, and the grand scale.
The first one is really interesting. At first glance it looks like a macro abstract, like sand or something. It's pretty surprising to realize it's a big landscape!
Great series. I like the others like the last one best. Composition and foreground elements are very nice! I like the Petroglyph National Monument photo as well. Just because I like the ancient/history stuff. Gives me another place to put on my list to visit :) thanks for sharing.
First and last are my faves - love the abstract in #1 and agree with Jack about the grand scale. The last has the right soft light for examination of details throughout the image.
Looks like you had a productive trip. Really like the last one especially the yucca in the foreground which gives it great dimension.

Like first and last best. Am fascinated by the petroglyph paintings. Your series tells an interesting story about the desert around Albuquerque. Thanks for sharing.

I like the first Tent Rocks image. I think it's a pretty cool place.
