Starlings
Had a go at a regular winter roost last week before the break up. Managed to get a nice sky and plenty of Starlings but no raptors, the above image shows they were spooked briefly but I never quite got what I had hoped for!

lovely setting, seems to be more starlings in your area then in ours, as ours seem to be on the move now.

Fine mood Dave, the reeds in the foreground the colored sky and the movements of the
birds. Well captured :toast:

Super shot - you've caught a good variety of shapes and plenty of birds in some nice light. Have you been visiting the Somerset Levels? I'f so I've been to a similar spot several times recently and never seen a display this good.

Hi David very nice capture in a good setting. On my screen the birds look frosty as though it has to much USM. :toast:

I like this very much, but I do feel that you could lose a bit off the top of the frame to give greater emphasis on the flock itself.

Hi Tim

Yes the Levels - this was last week and I think the roost is now starting to break up!

Hi David

I did consider the crop you suggest for the same reason but wanted to include the last of the blue sky at the top right which I felt added to the image!

an impressive sight David and well captured too. I would also prefer it with a little off the top.

Hi David,

A fine shot of this great spectacle and made all the better thanks to the attractive colour in the sky.

hi david,

good colour in the sky, with minor bird displays, i think that in most areas the starlings are now deminishing over seas ? we must all try agin next year !
