One from the Cloud Forest, I think it's a Purple Throated Mountain Gem Hummingbird, (but Mr Sewell, David, please correct me if I'm wrong  I know your passion for birds). Sadly the 'perch' is natural, living and part of the tree, so not choice in swopping it.

Hi Steve,

I think you overestimate my identification abilities, but yes it looks like a humming bird to me  Great shot of one as well, my only criticism is that I would like to see a tad more space to the left of the bird.

Ah, at least we are in agreement then it's a Hummingbird  Slight move to the left easily done.

Hi Steve

Lovely image - great BG and I quite like the perch. I rarely use fill flash but I'm sure this is one image that could have been improved still more had you used it!

I shot some hummingbirds last year in Colorado with Mr Shaw, Fill flash really bought out the colours on the throat, I feel the same would have benefited this image-nice as it is

Yep, have to agree with both David's here, re fill-in flash. Just left it behind, DOH!

Thanks folks. :wavey:

Hi Stephen,

superb shot I have no problem with the perch and the background is lovely. I have to agree that a bit of fill in flash might have helped it.

Prefer it without flash. Are you going for the cover of NPN with this. Pretty Nice Stephen.
