One of the capabilities of the new Nikon D300S is in-camera creation of an HDR image, I assume created from three exposures. Has anyone had any experience with this function?
I am particularly curious how the in-camera HDR capability compares with post-shooting image editing to create an HDR image (e.g. Photoshop).
It has been reported in a review appearing on page 78 in the October, 2009 issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine, that the Nikon D300S has a built in HDR capture option. This information is not accurate.
While the D300S is capable of capturing a wide dynamic range and has an exposure bracketing feature which can make it easier to capture images which will be used in the creation of HDR images, there is no embedded feature to actually create an HDR image.
