My first Red Kite
Taken from my first trip to Gigrin yesterday. A thoroughly enjoyable day, although slightly brighter conditions would have been preferable. It was an amazing sight to behold. Trying to select just one Red Kite was the challenge. Nice to meet up again with some NPN members and some old faces as well (Andy)
C&C most welcome as always

hi maggie

as you state focusing on one kite is very difficult, these birds of prey are very fast in flight, as i have found being at gilgrin, it truely is a amazing place and sight to behold, anyway back to your image,, great first effort indeed, good bird detail in what was poor lighting conditions.

Maggie it is a super first Red Kite image, just looks a wee bit dark on my monitor and could be lightened in Photoshop. :wavey: :wavey:

Hi Maggie,
Thats nice and sharp, it was a bit on the dull side wasn't it so you've done really well to get any detail in. We were +2EV and still getting shadows...lol :wavey:

Hi Maggie,

This is a great first image, considering the circumstances. Well composed with nice detail. Very well done.

Good one Maggie - only get them in ones and twos around here, so not too much agonising over which to aim at !!

It'll do nicely.

That's a fine shot Maggie and I like the size of the bird in the frame. I quite like the pale grey coloured sky too, it goes well with the colour of the kites head.

Hello Maggie

Its a nice try and good to get one sharp but you really need good light at Gigrin, so now you know where it is you will have to go back.

A really nice shot Maggie, glad you had a good day at Gigrin - my first visit there was over 20 years ago and there was just one small hide!! :toast:

Hi Maggie, great first shot and if it was slightly lighter I think that would improve the picture. :toast:

nice one Maggie .a challenging time with the light , not good. You've done well here isolating a bird with a decent wing and head position .A slight adjustment in shadow and highlight 'lifts' the bird . :toast:

Big congrats on landing your first Red Kite Maggie, I'd be well chuffed with this, slight nits already covered.

Good one for such bad light Maggie, nits already covered.

Never mind the blue stuff - look to return when there's snow on the deck.

So glad you enjoyed it, and all the lay-bys along the way     :jump:

Thanks folks for your comments. Sorry to be a bit slow posting this but have just spent 3 unexpected and rather scary days in hospital.
Thanks Ian the visit was much appreciated.
Sorry Andy but I've got my voice back so watch out.
