Taken last week at one of the highest tides of the year, it was originally taken as a 3 image stitch but I have not used all three images as it was getting too long, it would have needed maybe five images to get the whole flock in there is not just knot but also black tailed, bar tailed godwhit, grey plover, dunlin, and most other species of waders and quite a few thousand gulls.
Of course I chose the wrong end of the beach to stand at as there is a choice of two preferable spots unfortunately you haven't got time to move to the second spot when they have started to come in.

What a spectacle that must have been for you and trying to capture the essence of it is probably very difficult in terms of all the elements coming together for you. You have done well to record this much of the vast action that is going on, although at these screen sizes it will never do this image justice.
You need to view the larger version to appreciate the mass of birds-nature at its most incredible, would love to see it

Phil, lovely shot - must have been quite spectacular. The larger version does it more justice but personally I'd like a tad more height to the picture. What is that sticking up centre background - looks like church towers?
Hi Cliff & Tom it is a gas/oil rig one of the 2 blots on the sea scape.

I am abroad and the only thing that I can use to view the forum is my blackberry! Will look at the larger image when I return.
This one sure looks nice, great spectacle, something I have never seen...yet!
Lovely!

A cracking pano, I'm really interested in the fact that you use three shots. I have been trying shots with masses of snow geese 12-16 shots am I trying for too many? It's quite a challange. Also a pal of mine takes pano's back home and sells many he takes 40 shots using 50% but landscapes I think I may have answered my own question.

Hi Phil, what a spectacular site to see. This is great.

I agree with Tony, this needs to be a large panorama displayed on a wall. A great shot of one of those subjects that is never easy to reproduce as a photo.
i agree with the above, the web picture do not do it justice, I would love to see it printed as large pano.
nice capture

Oooo, I seem to recognise this place Phil - always knew it would throw a shot up like this some day. Spectacular image, the big version looks super - pity you couldn't finish off the right hand end.
