I can see that must have been quite a surprise to find them. The drawings look very well-preserved, perhaps due to being somewhat inaccessible.
Very nice colors and textures. I think the large canyon wall background gives one a sense of place for the drawings.
Thanks for sharing.

That's where those are. I spent a little time looking around and didn't find them on my trip in there. I'm sure the experience was better in person than in a photograph.
How tall are these guys? This is really cool I think!! And I like all the varied flowing lines in this image. I'm into the whole kokopelli thing so this works VERY well for me!!
8 or 10 feet tall?! WOW! I was thinking closer to 8 or 10 inches. No sense of scale here (not your fault). Thanks for the info. Now I really wish I had seen them.
Believe it or not though, type pictogliphs into Google and you'll get all sorts of links to exactly the kind of stuff pictured here. Although that doesn't prove it's used correctly either.
Mark,
This is pretty interesting. When My wife and I visited Quadra Island acrooss from Campbell River on Vancouver Island a couple oof years ago, we saw some really cool pretro-glifs. We had to walk aways to see them but it was worth seeing Bald Eagles, Whales and lighthouses on the way. I thought for a second that I might have ruined one when I slipped on a hillside and "catscratched" the side of the hill. I found out later that I wasn't even close to them.

11 repliesIt's a nothing special photo but it made quite an impact on me when I spied these guys way across the canyon and fairly high up on the wall.

I wonder if they had laws against grafitti back then?
