I'm headed to Moab next Thursday for several days but they are saying it may take weeks to re-open the hwy..guess I'll be taking the detour over flattop wilderness...any photo suggestions???
I could give you a couple of suggestions for the flattops-Steamboat area, but if I was coming from the Denver area going to Moab, why not take 285 to 50 over Monarch Pass to Montrose, 550 to Ridgway, then over Dallas Divide and on to Moab that way? The Walcott-Steamboat-Craig-Rifle detour is 200 miles!!!

I've taken the route Rod recommended a couple times from the Springs and its a nice detour from I-70. The Paradox valley is awesome. It only adds about 30-45 minutes for my drive time from the Springs.

#I70Rockslide Tomorrow, crews will cleanup rock from blasting today and make final repairs to get 1 lane open in each direction.
