Thought I'd share another Roe image for a change
This is my favourite doe and one individual that I think is particularly pretty, not that there's many ugly Roe.
I've gotten pretty used to the facial features of certain individuals and recognizing them isn't quite so dificult now as it once was when I first began photographing them.
On this occasion I was quite pleased to have the opportunity to get some close-ups. I always relished the opportunity, as initially before I became more familiar with them, the only way I could be sure which individual I was photographing was by their ears. This particular doe has quite distinctive notches in the hair on the edge of her ears and has just the tiniest bit of hair missing from the edge of her left ear (not evident in this shot). The facial features can change quite dramatically depending on the angle the head is viewed at and of course the coat changes reguarly but one thing that does appear to remain constant from year to year are those distinctive ears That's my bit of useless information shared for the day
I don't suppose you have this with both ears forward?
Hi Terry,
Yes, I got one other one similar to this one with both ears forward and then I took several different ones in portrait format, most of which had there ears forward too.
a fantastic shot Justin, one of the best Roe deer shots I've seen.

It's hard to find anything else to say about this Justin. It is just such a beautiful image, everything about it is spot on.
I visited a wildlife sanctuary today in a nearby town and the guy that runs it has a male roe that wanders around the garden with the dogs and goes in and out of the house. It was bought in at two weeks old and his greyhound adopted it. Absolutely remarkable, I've never been so close to one before. eric

Hi Eric
An interesting story, thanks for sharing. I guess a fair few of them get discovered in the first weeks of their lives with people thinking they've been abandoned. Sounds like he's adapted well to his alternative lifestyle

Just a careful approach and in her eyes I'm probably part of the habitat, she's seen me that many times over the years
