I spent a week last summer solo backpacking at the base of this peak, didn't quite get the light show I was hoping for but I had a fantastic time non the less, can't wait to get back this summer, hopefully a bit earlier in the year when there is more water flowing. Any critiques greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

Not a bad light show at all!
Foreground works well for leading my eye up to those majestic peaks.
Were this mine, I might try to brighten up the small rush of water at the bottom and the right bottom under that big rock just a bit.

Nice work!

agreed, I don't really like how this web version turned out, I'm going to do some work on it again and make a repost.

Waiting for my new check card in the mail to renew my membership, is there anyway I can post an updated photo?
Posted by Kalin Wilson on March 8, 2010 at 11:19 PM
You should be able to post in a reply. I don't know if non-membership affects that.

Sweet composition, Jeremy. I agree with John's tweaks.

I'm looking forward to the repost. The Posting Guidelines indicate that "NPN members can post images in replies", so I assume a non-member would only be able to post a link.

You can send it to me at toddATtoddcaudleDOTcom and I'll post it fer ya.

This is a good image but it almost screams for some type of blend or exposure fusion to lighten up the foreground. Good composition and nice lead-in.

thanks todd, email sent. One of these days I'll get something right the first time.

Aside from the foreground being a little too dark, I love it. The comp is amazing.

Wow, did you bring up the luminosity in the repost. Excellent work. The shot is fantastic, and has great clarity and color.

thanks all. your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

morris I did brighten it up a bit in the repost. That second one is fairly close to the original. I always have a bit of a difficult time with the web presentation, they seem to always turn out a bit murky.

Very nice! Nice Comp and the lighting on the re-post was a nice addition to a great photo.

Awesome shot! I like the saturation and colors in the sky in your repost; however, I prefer the colors and contrast of the foreground of the original. Anyways, great shot and it looks like an incredible peak. Where is that?

Hey Jeremy, I agree with Jack on this one. This peak looks familiar but I can't quite place it. I think the light is actually pretty good, and a great shot indeed. I've been down and out lately because my computer got a bunch of viruses. Not all of it was backed up so I'm trying to recover the newer stuff. Probably won't post anything for awhile yet. Keep em coming, great work.

Dang Dean, thats a real bummer, hope you are able to recover everything. I can't imagine losing everything. (Which reminds me that I need to store a back up somewhere other than my house, I'm always paranoid about it catching fire and losing everything) This is actually Cathedral peak. If you take the East rosebud trail in to lake at falls, then bushwack up the falls, around martin lake and over a ton of boulders you eventually get there  Love it though because I don't think many people end up there. I didn't see a person for the 6 days I stayed at the lakes below the peak.

Love the repost, an amazing scene. The subtle color on the rocks really makes the image.
Posted by Dean Sauskojus on March 11, 2010 at 2:21 AM
I woulda never guessed it although there is a pan picture of Martin Lake on Picassa. Beautiful place. Snow Lakes, a little closer to East Rosebud Lake looks like a neat place to. You ever been up there? I wish there were more trails into some of these places, but then you would have to deal with the people.
