Coot
While waiting for a Barn Owl to show up the Coots on a nearby pond gave something to point the camera at.

Nikon D300
Nikon 300mm f2.8 +1.7TC
1250th sec
f6.3
560 iso

hand held, laying down in the mud!

Lovely warm colours and I like the positioning in the frame (maybe a sliver more at the top would help?). Nicely exposed on the Coot too :toast:

Tony, this is a fabulous shot with the low angle really lifting the subject. However, on my screen the coot itself is a little too dark and I think that a slight tweak of shadows/highlights would lift it that bit further.

Lovely, great pov, I really like the reflected reeds and comp. The coot is a little dark on my screen too, but only a very tiny bit.

Lovely shot! :toast:

Difficult bird to photograph well but you've done well with this. The low camera angle is spot on, the setting perfect and that eye contact make it all work. Agree with David & Dawn that the Coot is just a bit dark on my screen.
