Taylor Reed posted a great shot done in the Piney Creek Nature Preserve and I have seen other equally wonderful shots of the area by other members here. Exactly where do you access this area if you want to photograph this it? Is it a bushwack to get to the best places or accessable by car. I have been slowly exploring Northwest Ark. on my last two trips and would love to learn more about the above mentioned area. I guess I am asking for specifics.

I think Taylor's Piney Creek Nature Preserve is in Illinois and is not the same Piney Creek that the Arkansas shooters have been displaying pictures of. From its headwaters southwest of Deer, Arkansas, the Big Piney runs roughly south until it flows into the Arkansas River near Russellville.
I haven't explored the creek that much and so don't have any specific recommendations for you. I don't know where the Horseshoe Bend overlook is on the creek, but I'm sure someone else will pipe up. If you look at google maps, you'll see a couple of pretty good candidates down close to where the creek exits the national forest. My money would be on the one farther south.
Apparently the overlook is near the Longpool Falls area; so if you have the Tim Ernst waterfall guidebook, you can use it to get to the general area.

Yep mine is the Illinois version. If anyone here ever has any interest in hiking or photo'ing up here shoot me an email, I know the area pretty well.

Great shot Mark. I've not been there in the spring yet, looks like I need to check it out when it greens up.

This is the location to the overlook where the horseshoe bend is on Big Piney...
The turnoff to the over look is 6.8 miles north of Hwy 164, north of Dover, AR. Turn on Old Hwy 7, go 1.4 miles to a "T"...go right on dirt road...follow for 2 miles. Overlook is N 35 55367 degrees, W 93 13582 degrees.
