White Ibis
Here is another from my trip to Mexico. After watching the Gray Whales in the Laguna San Ignacio we drifted in to the mangroves on the far side. One of the many birds we saw was this adult White Ibis.

Canon EOS 40D
100-400 lens at 400mm HH
F5.6 at 1/1250 sec
ISO 200
Crop, clone and adjust Highlights/Shadows in PSE8

All comments welcome. :toast:

Thats exotic .There appears to be an very slight excess of blue to the image .Would prefer a less fussy BG too but I'd be pleased with it .

It's fun to see a bird one does not see a whole lot of images from. I echo Mark's comments about the cast and bg. Thanks for showing! :toast:

Nice composition and well exposed Andy.
I am happy with my 100-400. I never use it lower than f8 at 400
at 5,6/400 it is a bit fussy. Did you do a test ever?

A good species to have captured. Don't remember seeing too many of these on the forum before.

Hi guys, thanks for all your comments. The blue of the water was from a bright blue sky but it increased a bit when I used auto levels in PS8. In answer to Bertl's question, no I haven't done any tests with the 100-400 lens. I think I should as I am not very happy with a lot of the shots I take, especially in low light. They are not very sharp, even at high shutter speeds and lack depth of field. I hand hold most of my shots, I know I should use a tripod more but I take a lot of flight shots and off the cuff shots. :toast: :toast:

Lovely subject Andy. Perhaps a slight head turn would have set him off a bit more but you cant always have it your own way.

Great habitat shot , agree that there does seem to be a slight blue cast.
