Spring is coming slowly but we can visit the valley, get some warmer weather and find some birds to photograph. This shot was taken at Lema Ranch in Redding with a D300, 500mm VR, 1.4TC at 1/1000 f8. It was cloudy so the ISO was 2500 and the image is a little noisy.

Wow, those are some striking colors, Mike, nice shot.
This is a very nice shot of one of my favorite birds. Looks great! You might try blurring the background some. Doing so would give even more emphasis to the bird and will also quiet some of the noise. The color is very nice and the pose of the birdie is perfect.

Spring can't come soon enough. Nice capture here - the bird is well posed - little catch light in his eye to boot. Noise is not an issue especially considering the ISO.
