The Old Tracks
These old tracks are right near my house in the state park off a local highway. Very fun place to explore. Any comments appreciated. How does the square crop work?

Really like this Ben. The trees forming a cave over the tracks is nice, as are the tracks themselves covered in leaves. Square crop for me works nicely given the subject. One of those photos that makes me feel like I'm standing right there.

This makes me think of concepts such as a journey or destination. I really
like this. Well done, Greg.

Hey Ben, glad to see you posting again and nice shot right from your backyard. I really like this trees covered in moss and the tracks give a nice journey through the woods touch.

This is very cool, Ben. Great soft light and saturation contributed to a sweet mood. Love the way the tracks move out of the scene, inviting wonder where they lead.

Beautiful color, Ben. The square crop looks fine to me.

Beautiful, Ben, the soft light really makes the colors stand out, well done.

The image is very nice. I would have composed it differently. Since the tracks curve out of the frame to the right, place them more to the left side of the frame in the foreground.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Rodney, I totally agree with you. I originally composed the image with the tracks on the left, but I was forced to include some unattractive vegetation on the right, so I had to compromise and center the tracks... :(

Wow, Ben not your usual style here, I love the change!

Ben
Impressive contrast between the leaves and the trees tied together by the rails. Great lighting.

Ben,

Square crop is fine. Soft even light great, unusual that you would find such long unused tracks still in place. Most old track was pulled up by railroads and the iron scrapped and the ties sold for other uses shortly after the line felll out of use just leaving the old rail bed.

I like this shot a lot. Could you please tell me where this location is? I will be in Santa Cruz on business later next month and would love to shoot this.

Thanks in advance
