Skeletal structure
Time is fast approaching for pasque flowers again...and I'm lucky that I live fairly close to some. I have some more ideas for similar shots I would like to achieve this year although it depends on their distribution and the weather! The enclosed shot is from last year where the main flower head has been left in its skeletal state with the low sunlight highlighting each part of the delicate structure. C&C welcome.

Simple but very effective.A slice off the top perhaps ?

A very pleasing shot.
I agree a slice off the top but would also be happy with it as it is.

I think this is excellent. The total minimalist composition, as shown here, suits this very delicate looking species particularly well.
The way the light is catching the flower head is the icing on the cake.

I like the way the light is shining through the feathery styles making the seed head stand out aginst the excellent BG. A great POV as well. Very nice indeed. A pity it is such a poisonous plant.

Nice, like the backlighting, DoF and OOF foreground, agree that a slice of the top would be nice....

Yes, the backlighting is very nice. If you are going to be trying this again, you might be able to improve the backlit effect by taking something to use as a reflector with you. You could also experiment with focus stacking to bring the fruiting body completely into focus. It's a fine image as it is, but good luck in getting something better.

Like this Ian it looks and works very well for me.
Can't wait to have ago at something different myself.
As mentioned a reflector could give you all sorts of other possibilities on the same theme.
