Of the diving ducks, the Lesser Scaup is a favorite. The drakes always appear so cautious, yet confident and IMO look like they go about their day with an attitude!

Really sharp comp, Craig. I would wish for a bit more room on the back side, but the detail in the head/beak is awesome. The light on the eye is spectacular too.
Yup it's a bit too tight on the right but wow what a great capture!! Are you on the shore for these duck shots you've been posting? Or um in the water?? Nicely done Craig!

A beautiful scaup Craig. These birds are hard to expose correctly and this one is very nice. More room on the back side would be less distracting, but "duck floating on water" shots are a dime a dozen. I think I would take the opposite approach, and crop this tighter. This has such a great view of the eye, that if you moved in on it enough to get rid of the distracting "almost" on the tail end (making the crop look more purposeful) I think it would rock!

Wonderful work! It is interesting see the expressions on these birds that I have never noticed before.
Thanks a million again for this morning.. Nicole was thrilled, and shares her thanks too!
