Another from my recent trip with Steve K to the North York Moors. It was interesting how some Grouse flew at the slightest thing, and yet this one just kept getting closer....

It works for me. I like the composition here and especially the way the warm-coloured plumage stands out from the slightly cooler tones of the surrounding heather.

Love the pose captured, really good composition with the OOF foreground giving depth to the image,I would just lower the contrast a tad, very different/nice RG image
One that didn't make it into the pot, I can still hear them clucking
Graham to me it looks a tad flat, a simple move in curves/levels gives it that 'pop' for me. I would also do a little more sharpening around the head & body only. I might also be tempted to clone some of those white feathers near the right leg as to me, they are a little distracting. Spot on with the position, pose & crop. Good detail in the eyebrows (combs) too.

Very typical image of the grouse creeping through the heather, very nice.

Hi Graham
Nice image, I think it would be improved if you cropped some off the top and some off the bottom making it a landscape format. This will make the bird a little more prominent in the picture. But this is a minor nit
