Poplar Hawk Moth larva passing through a colony of Gooseberry Sawfly Larvae (Croesus). They stick their bums up like this when disturbed and sometimes fall off the leaf.
Taken of a slide which won my first competition in 1970.

Great composition John.
There's small white fleck on the upload in the bottom right hand corner, and that is the only nit on this cracking shot. And that's just the way it has uploaded/scanned.
Fantastic

- I never used Kodachrome - although itv was a lot sharper when you got it right. The main reason was that I always had the Ektachrome processed un mounted, because there were so many chuck outs ! It was a lot cheaper that way .Kod 64 was process paid. Also I had a local firm where I could get the Ektachrome back the same day which was useful in the early days of bird photography especially !
Cheers

Class image .Thanks for taking the time and effort in re airing these . It reminds me of the days when you had to get it right first time every time otherwise it was going to cost big time. Something modern digital makes you oh so ignorant of.
1970 !, was that just after the moon landing . I remember my dad talking about it ...LOL
