I am toying with the idea of a trip this summer or fall to visit Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons or Banff areas. I will probably have only a week to spend and I will be on a tight budget.
If you have been to these areas, what would you suggest as an itinerary to see the best locations and maximize my photo opportunities. I am primarily interested in landscape images.
Is it feasible to visit, say Glacier and Banff/Lake Louise in such a short time?
Well, I'll jump in and say that you have way too little time for any of these areas! Darn it! But given the circumstances and your landscape focus, I don't think you can beat Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. If you hustle, you can get to the best places in both parks, as they are contiguous. Yellowstone: Mammoth Hot Springs and Geyser Basin are always tops on my list. Good luck, and which ever trip you take, you're in for an eyeful of amazing sights! Safe travels.
I hope others will comment for you on Banff/Lake Louise. I haven't been there, though it's high on my to do list.
I would say spend more good time in one national park rather than spend a lot of time in travel. A park ranger in Yosemite National park was asked "What would you do if you only had one day to visit?" After some thinking he responded "I would cry."
Have a great time in whatever you do!

I've been to all 3 of the areas you've mentioned. I agree with the others that you should concentrate in 1 of the 3 areas. I've spent a week in each area, listed in order of my preference:
I felt I saw a lot in each area but I could have easily spent more time in each. I think you could visit Glacier and Banff in the same trip but you will be rushing around and you won't be satisfied with just a taste of either area. Better to separate the 2 trips and see each area more thoroughly.

Thanks for any guidance you can offer!

1. Banff/Lake Louise/Icefields Parkway
2. Glacier NP
3. Yellowstone/Teton
