Continuing my exploration of detail and contrast and the stuff that goes on beyond the obvious. Peacock with no colour. This image was actually inspired by a trip over one of the high hill tracks a few days ago where the patterns of melting snow and dark moorland created a similar effect, so I dragged it out of the file and had a tweak. Funny how one thing informs another. I thought the mad eyes had a lovely deranged and devilish thing going on!

Looks like one of the optical illusion puzzles where things keep moving until you 'blink' and suddenly it all stops.. Needless to say, I now see stripes...!! I wonder if the 'eyes' in the top LHC add to the image or draw the eye, not sure but since it's a peacock I guess they are needed for the indicative ID.. Interesting work and some amazing patterns.

That's really impressive John. I love the way that the eyes give life to what should be a still life. Disconcerting and fascinating at the same time. It feels like there is something scary hiding in there. The eyes are essential to my mind, mask them out and it kills the image stone dead. eric
Again very creative. Not sure if it's my cup of tea but I like your way of seeing things in a different perspective. I always look forward seeing your next post so it's a good thing I think.
Keep it up.

Excellent, looks like a villan pulling a cape across his face with just the eyes showing to me, but theres lots of other images there if you stare long enough
