Munchin...
Local Water Vole

Again just playing with the focus of the 1D4 and its orientation sensors. Quite impressed. Unfortunately the the subject came to within minimum focus (DOF about 1cm , I should have gone to F5.6) and stayed there for about 5 minutes before wandering off.

500mm/BB
500'/F4/400ASA
Normal PS (cropped for comp about 10%)

That's a superb viewpoint here Tom and I think the portrait format works great.
Only thing is and I hope it's not my monitor, but the dark parts seem to have a bit of a purple cast, I think. Most noticeable on the dark area under the eyes and on the wet, pointed bits of the vole's coat.
What do you reckon, or is it just me?
A cracking result anyway. :toast:

For me it's just beautiful - lovely detail and pose.

A great shot and excellent PoV, the shallow DoF works well on this too! However I do have to echo Justin's comments re the colour cast in the shadows.

Hi Tom
I wasn't going to say anything with my colour perception problems!! - but the colour on this definately looks out to me. There seems to be too much blue generally, but then again if that's how it was then fine .
Certainly better than any Water Vole I,ve got. !
Cheers
John

Great image but I too am seeing an apparent blue cast. However taking a close look at the eyes it looks as though there was a good blue sky so perhaps it's just the reflection on the damp fur?

Is this better...

Yes Tom- in my opinion it is. Even I can see it- but who am I to judge
but its the greens that are my problem !

That vole looks very familiar Tom

Nice detailed close up

Repost looks better.

PS. Not sure how much apple would have been left for this morning the Moorhens were at it as soon I put it in the hole

Nicely taken Tom, repost looks better to me.

Colour in the second post is much better Tom. Was momentarily tempted this morning to return early but was more tempted by a long and leisurely breakfast. I could get very used to this "not working"

BIF- very nice indeed. The repost, when compared with the first, has the edge IMO.
