Arvin Report
Just got back from a quick overnight two day trip to photograph Arvin area at sunrise and sunset. I have not been there before, but my sense is that it is still early for whatever "peak" is going to be on the hills. The flat lands at the base of the hills above Arvin already have a moderate amount of lupine, fiddleneck and popcorn flowers, as seen in this photo.

The hills themselves don't have a lot of color. There are are few patches of orange; this is one of the best.

The best color is the lupines along the side of the road approaching the hills on Bear Mountain Road.

This last shot was taken somewhere between Glenville and Fountain Springs, which you can find on Google maps just north of CA 155, which takes off from Highway 99 at Delano.

Very nice shots Tony, even if still a bit early. I especially like the last one with the oak and splashes of different color from the lupine and what looks like poppies or fiddlenecks.

So was most everything shot from behind fences? I know its hard to find a place to walk out amongst the flowers in some of those parts, especially Arvin and the Tejon Ranch. The Poppy Reserve and a number of other places being the exception.

I was crawling around in the lupines, which are a swath about six feet wide between the road and the fences. Everything else is shot with a telephoto from behind fences.

Love the first one. Great series, Tony.

Tony,

I just kneel ed in a patch of Lupine by the side of the road and got smeared with blue, you must have been covered. Agree with Matt nice series. I think things are just getting started on the South end of the state .
