Mountain Hare,in the snow.
I took this 2 weeks ago (the day after the red grouse) up in the Lammermuir Hills,in the Scottish Borders.
I've cropped a little off the bottom and left hand side.
Thanks for looking.
Canon 1D Mk11N,500+1.4 canon lens,1/2ooo f7.1 and iso400.

A cracking shot Phil. The OOF rocks above the nose might be a little distracting but I don't like too much cloning out. Superb lighting and sharp Hare, well done, I am jealous. :toast:

30 hits, no replies???

I like this Phil. OK, the BG is slightly messy (easily fixed if you want too) and a 'cleaner' BG would really make this stand out IMHO. I love the incline/angle the hare is sitting on, good detail, whites held well.

Agree a plain BG would be nice but I would be perfectly happy to have taken an image like this. Lovely detail Phil. :wavey:

Very nice shot Phil

nice composition and exposure :toast:

In an ideal world a plain background would be good

I like it how it is Phil. The slope the hare is on gives it something too. Yes, you could work on the background to give it the perfect snowy backdrop, but that would lose its sense of place (for me anyway). :toast:

Lovely composition and colouring Phil :toast: As for the OOF rocks in the background, rather than cloning them out maybe just toning down the darker ones to a lighter grey would make them less distracting?
