1/1000s f/5.6 ISO500 400mm

I have been without internet for a few days, so I have been hunting the harddrive. I found a few overexposed kite images and inspired by Tom W I thought I would copy him on the b&w idea :toast:

More on the blog but interested to hear if it works..

I very much like the idea of black and white and the pale sky works to your advantage here, but I'm afraid the composition doesn't work for me with the wing tip missing. The diagonal positioning of the bird is great, but if only both wings were there.
Good on you for experimenting and trying something different though.

Agree with Justin - but....turned 90 degrees cw, and clipping the lower wing to match the upper does (for me) make rather a nice and very intimate alternative. (keep the wing-to-corners relationship symmetrical though!)

would rather see the full wing Liam,it just looks odd to me with it missing

I really like the idea but for me the composition doesn't quite work. Maybe if the kite's right wing came directly from the upper left corner and the image was re-framed so its left went into the lower right. Just a thought.

Your reworked image is a big improvement Liam, really like the comp and the B&W conversion works well.

Gets my vote, rather like this unconventional composition and B & W rendering. :toast:

I like the original, breaking the convention makes the image for me :toast:

Hi Liam, I agree with justin's comments completely. :toast:

Love both of them Liam, but for me the first is the best, as I like the pose and the 'different' feel to the image,a very brave step that has worked well IMO   :wavey:

I also agree with Justin's comment but it is certainly nice to see something different.
