Spring migrant
This week spring has finally sprung in our part of the world. Toads and frogs are in the ponds, reptiles are appearing at their regular sites, and hungry hedgehogs are fighting over the food bowl in the garden.

This is the first spring migrant I have seen, at Elmley yesterday. It is about a 75% crop, and the only real reason I am posting it is that after a long, cold winter, spring is here at last. Whatever you like to photograph, I hope you have a good one.

Nikon D200, 600mm Nikon, 1.4 x Sigma converter, 320 iso, 1/500th @ f5.6, beanbag from car.

Good to see the Wheatear's are here once again and here's hoping for a photographically productive Spring and Summer for us all.
Nice image David but perhaps a little soft, could be my tired eyes though.

Nits covered David, would suggest you increase your ISO for a higher SS for a sharper image :wavey: However a 75% crop is quite big.

Thanks for your comments, folks. Steve, I am trying to work in the opposite direction and reduce iso. I agree that it is not being terribly sharp, but I have given it as much USM as I think is appropriate, and I posted it more as a sign of spring than for any other reason.

As someone who shoots almost exclusively at ISO 50 (I enjoy the challange) it is nice to read that you are reducing ISO. A very nice image and the perceived lack of sharpness doesn't detract from the overall message that 'SPRING IS HERE'

David, the message is clear - Spring at last! Looks OK on my (iMac) monitor.

Hi David, nice shot and I am glad that Spring is on it's way. Probably be another 2 weeks before it arrives in my area. :toast:
