If so, would you please be willing to email me a copy of the first page of the manual ?
I have Norton 2009, but can't find the manual after my recent move - and need a copy for a rebate of a different 2010 anti-virus.

Thanks!

Sandy,

Can you download and print the page you need?

I haven't used Norton/Symantec AV in years because I found it to be a resources hog, so I'd like to suggest an alernative.

I am now using Avast! Free Anti Virus. It has received excellent reviews, and the free version has all you need to be well protected: http://www.avast.com/security-software-home-office

Edit: Sandy, you might want to remove your e-mail address from your post to protect yourself from spam.

Thanks Preston, the manual for the 2009 version is not online.
I also do not like Norton (Norton 360 just completely screwed up my computer, major repairs and repair bills and still not right) and I am moving to another anti-virus. The rebate is for switching from a competitior (in this case, the Norton)

Sandy,

Do you have any kind of invoice that shows proof of purchase of the Norton software? If so, you could contact the competing vendor and see if they would accept that for the competitive upgrade.

Preston, they are very specific that the only things acceptible, per the rebate form, are a copy of the first page of the Norton manual , or a copy of the install disc which is with the manual I can't find. Thanks for trying to help, though!

Sandy, I think Preston is trying to save you some $$$ and get you onto a better antivirus solution. I second his recommendation. Avast! Antivirus Home Edition is aggressively updated, sometimes twice or more per day with new virus definitions and over the past 4 years I have been using it, my computer has not been infected. I switched to Avast! after my computer became infected with a rootkit virus while Norton was on the computer. Even after I did the whole process of identifying the culprit using Hijack This, cleaning out the registry entries etc - I emailed Norton regarding the virus and they were not aware of it.

Anyway, Panda Software, Avast!, Malwarebytes all make wonderful products that offer a free version of their enterprise products for free - they do not require a page of a manual or a copy of an install disc - and what's even better - they actually do a good job.

I use Avast! AND Malwarebytes together. I also do a lot of cleaning out of viruses for others and I find these products to get the offending junk off of the computer better than most other products I have tried. The funny thing is that most computers that I clean out have some commercial, over the counter antivirus installed and currently upgraded that failed to protect the computer.

Sandy,

I'll third the Avast recommendation. I have also used it for years with good results. In addition, a good friend who is an IT pro highly recommends it over all the the other options. The personal version is free, too! I had major issues with Norton myself years ago and will pnever use their products.

Another hearty endorsement for Avast! Antivirus.
My computer has never had a conflict with this app. and the price is right.

Sandy,

I find it odd that a vendor will only accept a page from a manual or the original disc.

Gene is correct. Without explicitly saying so, I was trying to save you money and get you into a better solution.

Avast! is very efficient in terms of it's resource hit and is also very effective. And, the price is right.

I'll also second the free MalwareBytes malicious software tool. It is very effective and you can run it at need, or schedule a scan.

I appreciate that people love Avast.
I appreciate the thoughts on changing.
I still am asking if anyone is willing to send me a copy of the first page of the Norton 2009 manual for the rebate of the softwear I purchased.
THAT is what i asked for, people.
Thanks -
Sandy

I wasn't aware that you had aready purchased new software. My mistake. If had known that I would not have suggested an alternative program.

Sorry to be a pain, but I immediately remove any Norton product from every new laptop and desktop we buy. Avast on everyone of ours for the past 4 years!
